Here we go!

Hey guys! I'm starting this blog to help hold myself accountable throughout this journey. I have started the couch to 5k training program with my bestie, Hesper. I started the program about two weeks ago, but tonight was the first time that we ran together... It kicked my ASS but Hesper stayed with me, and pushed me on. Our goal is to finish the Never Quit Beach Run on May 21st. It's a 5k (3.2 miles) and I know it will be such an amazing feeling to get through the whole thing!

So... Let's start with a little background information. Unfortunately, over the past several years, I have really lost site of myself. I let myself go physically and sometimes, even mentally. It started when I got into a negative relationship and there was a lot of drinking involved. This was when I lived in Orlando, and sadly, I got well up over 200 pounds. I even stopped weighing myself because I hated to look at the scale. As embarrassing as it is to actually write that down, it's just as hard for me to say that I am currently starting this journey at 189 pounds (OUCH)!!!

Sometimes it's hard for me to be comfortable with myself physically around a lot of my friends because they are all "skinny"! I love each and every one of them, but at the same time, I am so jealous of them. I want to have the same confidence they do, and be comfortable in my own skin. I understand that people say you will never be totally happy with yourself, but it is so hard for me to hear them say they are "fat" or "need to lose weight". I understand their thoughts when they say it, but I just don't think they understand how it makes someone "like me" feel. Like I said, I love them, and would never be upset with them for saying it, it's just hard for me to hear it...

That being said, I am READY to make a change! I know once I improve myself physically, I will also improve mentally. I know that when the running gets easier, it's going to be a great feeling!

So... I am sharing this journey with who ever wants to follow it, in hopes that it will help to hold me accountable, and also, so that I can track my progress! My plan is to post a monthly photo, and HOPEFULLY we will see a difference!
